HelioArt opens Eunmi Chae and Dongwon Shin's exhibitions to end 2013 and freshly welcome the New Year.

 

Eunmi Chae uses pearl particles and pure gold leaf to make five Korean traditional colors called 'Obang(Five) Colors'. Many layers in the work makes a space, but these layers are filled with lights from different angles. Korean pearl, Obang colors and the layers of lights constitutes a minimalist and clean look to it.

Dongwon Shin flattens a ceramic tableware into a two-dimensional to remove practicality and use as only decorative. His work looks stable but it gives an uncomfortable feelings to the audience. He completes the installation of the past and the present by imagination to give the story to life objects.

One will have the opportunity to check the originality of the contemporary Korean artist by looking at these two artists exhibition, where this exhibition serves a modern interpretation of oriental motifs. 

 

 

헬리오아트는 2013년을 마무리하고 새로운 한 해를 맞이하는 전시로 채은미, 신동원 작가의 전을 연다.

 

채은미 작가의 작품은 오방색의 자개 파편과 순금 금박을 재료로 한다. 차곡차곡 겹겹이 쌓인 레이어는 공간을 만들어내지만, 그것은 비어있지 않고 관객의 각도에 따라 다양한 빛을 가진다. 한국적인 자개와 오방색, 격자무늬의 테마는 빛과 함께 겹쳐지며 미니멀하고 정결한 화면을 구성하게 된다.

 

신동원 작가는 실생활에 사용되는 도자 테이블웨어를 2차원으로 평면화하여 그것에서 실용성을 제거하고 오로지 장식성만을 부각시킨다. 그의 작품은 형태적으로는 안정적이지만, 고유한 역할이 사라지면서 어딘가 불안한 느낌을 제공한다. 그는 생활 오브제에 상상 속에서 가능한 이야기를 부여하여 평면과 입체, 과거와 현재가 공존하는 설치작업을 완성한다.

 

동양의 모티브를 현대적으로 해석한 두 명의 작가의 전시를 선보이며 한국작가의 독창성을 새롭게 확인하는 기회를 가질 수 있을 것이다.
